I was raised by hippies, & I'm proud of it. I called myself a New Wave Hippie in high school, combining my peacenik tendencies with the '80s music I had then discovered. I set my sights on U.C. Berkeley for college, & never looked back. In my work these days, I help run one of the biggest environmental websites around.
I still mix my hippie roots with a less than typically tie-dye flair. I love paisley & ethnic prints, flowing tops & dresses, & I sometimes can't help but let my hair run wild & free.
What I'm wearing:
Black, purple, & blue paisley tunic, Chadwicks
Black leggings, Newport News
Black ribbon & silver chain belt, eBay
Black embellished mules, bought from REVA RAGS 2 ROSES
Silver filigree earrings, Target
Silver skull & black bead choker, DisneyLand
In my day,we would have called it being a Gippy! (Goth hIPPY!
ReplyDeleteHelga - Hah!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love paisley! Your tunic is gorg! I grew up sort of avoiding it myself because of the hippie vibe (my parents were way more Mad Men)...I totally agree with green/liberal/can'tweallgetalong philosophical things, absolutely, but I'm just more of an urbanite otherwise. :)
ReplyDeleteBut somehow, I started to recognize how wonderful paisleys are. I don't do floral, I prefer geometrics, but paisley is kind of in between and can be so elegant and even fractal.
Love your shoes too! Exotic and classic at once.
Love the look
ReplyDeleteI posted something on Friday about my hippie background too! Great minds... Love this outfit, I was all about the flowy skirts myself.
ReplyDeleteSomeone - Paisley is lovely! Tho it can be hard to find good ones.
ReplyDeletecheeky curves - Thanks!
