Spring-ish Monday

We haven't had a real winter here in Northern California, just a few spots of rain (not the full weeks of rain we usually get). But it seems like we're already on to spring now. I'm not complaining, but I do worry that this means a dry, drought-prone summer. Ah well, I'll just enjoy the short-sleeves while it's still "optional" & not "omg necessary!"

What I'm wearing:
Black three-quarter-sleeve jacket with piping details, Spiegel | Purple V-neck knit top, The Limited | Black & white paisley-print wrap skirt, custom-made by Donna | Black tights, Calvin Klein | Purple velvet ankle-strap pumps, RocketDog | Purple & black necklace with scissors medallion, custom-made by Lisa | Pewter square dangle earrings, made by a local artist | Gunmetal & black cocktail ring, random accessory store

And I have to share this, because it's the most adorable thing I've seen online in ages -- LIVE PENGUIN WEBCAM!!!!!! Yeah, it deserves all-caps, imnsho. I could watch this for hours.

My husband & I went to Antarctica in 2004, & we got up close & personal with penguins. They are the most awesome creatures evar. And hey, they're kind of goth -- they wear all black & white, after all :-)

  1. I don't know many people who have been to Antartica!! Amazing!
Adore the necklace and shoes. Perfectly put together outfit too. Could you wear a belt over that type of jacket? It would be a sexy touch!

  3. Hello, I'm here by way of a comment you left to me over at Already Pretty, in which you called me rude. I just left a reply in which I tried to pull my foot out of my mouth but might have just shoved it in further. Either way, I hope it isn't insulting to have a thrifty hippie hausfrau SAHM visit your blog and tell you she likes your style. I had a 9-to-5 tech support job for 8 years, right out of being a slacker undergrad, and found the corporate style restrictions incredibly depressing. But you've done a great job staying true to your self and looking professional at the same time.

  4. THAT.SKIRT! Agghhh! I love paisley...and I love purple. And I love them together! You might say it's due to the influence of Prince, and you might be right. I don't know. I just love them.

I'm almost jealous of your trip to Antarctica. Almost, but then when I start feeling it, I spontaneously shiver, and it goes away. X^D

  6. The jacket is very fitted when worn closed - it was just warmer that day so I left it open. But a contrasting belt could be a cool idea!

  7. The friend who made it knows how I sew a lot, plus she knows my taste. It's a fave!

  8. I was trying to say that the judgement was rude, that's all! It seemed like there were a lot of snap judgements flying around in those comments, & they were probably out of context. Sorry :-)

Thanks for following up & for visiting my blog.

  9. LOL, I'm a huge fan of paisley & purple (& Prince) too.

Surprisingly, Antarctica wasn't horribly cold, since you can only go during "summer" there :-)
