Continuing with the Professor's holiday theme ... While we haven't gotten an Xmas tree yet, I know what will top it. About a dozen years ago, I made this gothic angel to top our tree, & here are some photos from past holidays.
I wrote up the instructions for how to make her for my Gothic Martha Stewart
site -- you can easily make your own! The materials are inexpensive, & by using different scraps of fabric & trims, you
can customize the angel to fit your decor.
If you have a tree at the holidays, what do you top it with? Is there a story behind the tree-topper? Share in the comments!
Oooh, I have been looking for a traditional angel topper that I could transform into an Angel of Death of Weeping Angel for my Halloween tree. I hadn't seen your tutorial before, so I definitely be perusing that.
ReplyDeleteSUCH a pretty purple tree - and I love the angel!
ReplyDeleteI hope you make something for yourself - there's so many possibilities! While my angel template is pretty simple, you can use that to go wild.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I switch between purple lights, red lights, & white lights each year.
ReplyDeleteYOur tree is Amazing!!!! I love the purple lights in it! It's awesome! Your angel is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYour angels is like a gothic countess, very pretty! :) I've hear that in some traditions people top the tree with an angel instead of a star, but have not actually seen one with an angel. Your tree is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am stunned at the beauty of that tree. And the angel. But I don't have a Christmas tree any more so I'll have to find another way to use those colors.
ReplyDeleteWOW. Your tree is absolutely stunning. It looks so pretty with your decor, almost like a the Victorian trees pictured in paintings. Thanks for participating!
ReplyDeleteOh my your tree is gorgeous!!! When I was a senior in high school I saw a silver star in the Pottery Barn catalog and begged and pleaded my mom to get it for me, no clue why since I didn't have a tree for it. Finally, three years ago I had a house big enough for a tree to handle the star and I use it and forever will to validate the begging and to remind myself of how I used to HAVE to do things like everyone else even if it didn't make sense and how much I have grown since then.
ReplyDeleteI'm not religious, but I like angels. They're kind of like fairys to me. Ethereal & pretty.
ReplyDeletePurple makes a great holiday decor color :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I do try to go for a Victorian style, it fits with my living room a bit :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, at least you got that star!
ReplyDeleteThe tree is fantastic - the gold and purple are so Victorian looking! And I'm loving that border you have around the top of your walls - really nice! :o)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was up for qualifiers during my PhD, my best friend bought me a little stuffed Pteranodon that had a wrist strap on it. She handed him to me whenever I had a break from the interrogation. I passed, and ever since then I've used the wrist strap to tie him to the top of the Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome! Unique & with good memories attached.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there's definitely a gothic-victorian look going on in our living room :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the tree
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that the Gothic Martha Stewart site was yours! I have found many good ideas from there over the years!
ReplyDeleteLove your tree, love the angel, love the Gothic Martha Steawrt pages!
