Being an old-school goth gal, sometimes I just like to let my hair go its own way. Big & frizzy a la Robert Smith in his glory days. I don't even need to backcomb (altho' I really want to get some of this Backcomb in a Bottle stuff I read about! too bad it's only available in the U.K.). Mostly, I can skip the leave-in conditioner & smoothing products, & *ta da* my hair gets big. It could go bigger, of course, but that wouldn't be work-appropriate. Not that this hair would pass muster in a more conservative office, but I work in high-tech, so nobody cares.
The frizzy hair is a good match for this fuzzy sweater & corduroy skirt. I'm all about the texture today.
What I'm wearing:
Plum wrap-front sweater, gift from Lisa
Black long-sleeve knit top, Old Navy
Black corduroy skirt, H&M
Black tights, Calvin Klein
Black ribbon-tie pumps, Clarks
Enameled bat pendant necklace, made by local artist
Black with pink crystals Victorian-esque earrings, random accessory store
There is a product they sell here by Big Sexy Hair called "What a tease, backcomb in a bottle" and it is amazing. You hold up a section of hair, spray it, wait a moment for it to dry, then pull the hair apart (like your separation the section) and it literally backcombs itself. I'm not sure if we still sell it, but I'm pretty sure I saw it at Peninsula Beauty Supply too. Big Sexy makes another cool product called "flip it over". you flip your head over, spray it in, scrunch or mess up your hair for a second, then flip your head back up, and voila, big sexy bombshell bedhead hair.

Hmmm, haven't heard of Backcomb in a Bottle. Sounds like something my thin stringy hair could use. :) I need a crimper for big hair.
ReplyDeleteNice outfit. Like the purple with your skin tone.
You look awesome today! This is how I wear my hair almost everyday, letting it hang down with a center part or sidepart, sometimes I braid it. I use a powder called dust-it sometimes when I need a bigger hair. I just dust it over the head and rubb it gently with my fingertips.
ReplyDeleteThat outfit is right up my alley -- short stiff skirt, color on top, mostly black! I could dress like that all day, every day.
ReplyDeleteI have flat hair and I've never understood why that's supposed to be "more professional." IMHO, your hair has shape and style and that should be professional enough for the workplace. If I skip the conditioner, my hair gets fluffy too but not in a good way...
Oooo, I'll have to look for that, thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI love my crimper, but only use it on weekends when I have time. Or for costume events (it's great for historical hairstyles too :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely!
ReplyDeleteMy hair gets pretty crazy, flyaway, & messy, which doesn't look "grown-up" & professional. Kind of wild-child. But I work in a casual environment, so it doesn't matter too much ;)
