Spread the love -- write out three positive things right now. No judging, don't think too hard about it...
For me
1. My husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary this weekend! We had a wonderful time together, just what we wanted.
2. Our three kittens turned nine months old, but they're still just little adorable babies.
3. I got a great manicure and pedicure (first one of spring/summer season) after this photo.
What's up with you?

Friday Five: Dream Wedding
1. If you were getting married tomorrow (or renewing your vows!), who would be in your wedding party?
I couldn't help but doing this one, since my sweetie and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary this week! You can see pix from our wedding here. If I did it over again today or did a vow renewal, I'd want to include my BFFs Kendra and Sarah for sure, and probably a lot of my original wedding party too, just all in different roles.
2. Where would you get married?
It's a dream wedding, so how about Venetian carnevale! At a private, historical palazzo with a masked ball theme, all in costume, a mix of 18th century and 16th century with gothic overtones, and candlelit for sure.
3. What song would be played for your first dance?
"Somebody" by Depeche Mode. That's what I wanted the first time, but my husband had to go and write a song (because he's adorable like that).
4. What would be your wedding colours?
This, I'd do the same: black and burgundy.
5. Where would you go on your honeymoon?
We'd already be in Venice, Italy, so that'd be the wedding and honeymoon combined! With all our friends and family.
Questions culled from The Friday Five on LiveJournal.
What I'm wearing: Black & white striped knit jacket, Marshall's | Black sheath dress, Target | Black tights, Calvin Klein | Grey wedge pumps, Anne Klein | Silver key necklace, gift from my husband | Pewter key earrings, made by me

Status Report: Love What You Do
You got a break with no January report, but I'm giving everyone a challenge for February. Because Valentine's Day is in the middle of the month, let's talk about love...
Subject: Love What You Do. Describe and try to show what you love about your job, career, school, or vocation. Few jobs are perfect, but most jobs have something that keeps you hanging on. Whether it's a decent paycheck, reasonable hours, fun coworkers, being able to wear what you want, what makes you appreciate your line of work? Tell us about it & include a picture to symbolize that. If you're studying something you love, share the details. Or maybe you just left one career & are striking out on something new? Do you love that prospect? Why? We spend so much of our lives working, we better find at least one thing to enjoy.
Due Date: Wednesday, February 13 to Thursday, February 14
How to File Your Report:
1. Post to your blog on or around the due dates.
2. Include the following code in your post so the This Is CorpGoth Mid-Month Status Report graphic will display (if you're using Blogger or WordPress, switch to the 'HTML post' setting & then paste this code in):

Someone Special
Sophistique Noir's theme this month is "someone special." It may be obvious, but I find it impossible to blog about anyone other than my beloved, my husband Thomas, for he is most special to me. I have dear, dear friends, & even our two cats are super-special, but Thomas is my best friend, my partner, my soulmate.
We've been together 20 years, married 12, we've had great ups & downs, we don't agree on everything, & we are constantly working on our relationship. But we care deeply about each other, & neither of us could imagine life without the other.
I always come back to these words I included in our wedding ceremony, paraphrased from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke:
And here we are at our wedding in 2000. We designed our outfits in a Victorian-gothic style & made them with the help of friends & family. They were taken by Erica Z. Connors, our professional photographer.
And then here we are doing what we love most -- travel. I'd only been to Canada before meeting Thomas, but together we have set foot on every continent including Antarctica. We're always planning another trip, whether to somewhere new or back to an old favorite haunt. And sometimes we combine my love of costume, our interest in history, & our passion for travel.

I always come back to these words I included in our wedding ceremony, paraphrased from the poet Rainer Maria Rilke:
A merging of two people is an impossibility, and where it seems to exist, it is a hemming-in, a mutual consent that robs one party or both parties of their fullest freedom and development. But once the realization is accepted that even between the closest people infinite distances exist, a marvelous living side-by-side can grow up for them, if they succeed in loving the expanse between them, which gives them the possibility of always seeing each other as a whole and before an immense sky. That is, I believe, what we have. We are two unique wholes, different, separate, but sharing our lives completely & utterly together. That makes our relationship so terribly special to me.
