Black & White & Fuchsia

When I planned this outfit the night before, I was thinking of either mid-high lace-up boots or flat, pointy bat-buckle boots. But when I went into the closet to grab my shoes, I saw these fuchsia velvet babies & thought, whoa, where have you been all my life? I've probably worn them twice in two years. Sad!

And I was reminded of Sal's recent post on Already Pretty about incorporating colorful shoes into an outfit, so I threw the ol' burgundy hair flower into the mix. It's not an exact match, but shockingly I don't have any fuchsia accessories. I looked around for some jewelry, & while I have a lot of hot pink, nothing fit the neckline of this top & sweater. Oh well, I hope the look still works.

What I'm wearing:
Black boyfriend cardigan, Chadwicks
Black & white damask-print knit top, Spiegel
Black velvet & satin swirl skirt, unknown brand
Black elastic belt with ruffle accent, NY & Co.
Black tights, Calvin Klein
Fuchsia crushed-velvet lace-up boots, bought from a friend
Hand-painted skull pendant on velvet ribbon, made by a local artist
Silver cameo earrings, vintage
Dark burgundy lipstick, Chanel "Vamp"
Burgundy satin flower hair pin, Forever 21

  1. Sweet! You've worn them more now than I ever have.

  2. Vanessa - I still should wear them more (maybe they need a better place in my closet ;-).

    Nicole - Thanks!

  3. I'd kill for those boots! And you look great.

  4. Yes, they need a better home, obviously: MY closet! Those are fab shoes, Trystan - you better wear them more or I am marching right over there and rescuing them from you. ;)

  5. I suddenly understand shoe fetishes.

  6. Yep. The boots. I want the boots.

  7. Whoa, fantastic shoes. I would be TERRIFIED about wearing them for fear of scuffing or damaging them at all (I'm pretty hard on shoes)! So great.

  8. I love the shoes, but I don't think we have the weather here for them - when it's cold, it also rains/hails/sleets/snows.

The boots are very striking as the single pop of color. I can see why you wanted to coordinate with your accessories, but it looked great without too.

  9. Laurie & joyce - You can see why I had to have them!

Sheila - HAH!!! Ok, I promise to figure out more outfits with them, really!!!

    Yvette - True nuff.

    Judy - Hee hee hee.

Becky - They're cloth uppers, so no real scuffing, but I definitely couldn't wear them in wet weather.

LovleAnjel - Yep, these not for bad weather at all! Thank goodness for sunny California ;-)

  10. It TOTALLY works -- I LOVE this outfit. I found that post (by Sal) totally useful! Need to do more bright shoes/bright something on top to match.

  11. Kendra - Thanks! And yeah, Sal has some great tips. I tend to go by "feel" but it helps to have examples bec. then I get more ideas of why I actually like how things work / don't.

  12. I really like the flower in your hair. It's dark and romantic and tops off the entire look!

  13. Your velvet boots are amazing !
