Skulls for Halloween Week

Since Halloween falls smack in the middle of the work week, I'm adding some extra-gothy touches to my outfits each day leading up to the holiday. Tho' I won't be wearing an actual costume to the office.

The company does have a Halloween celebration, but it's on the 30th this year (weird!), & it always ends up being mostly for the kids of employees. Adults don't tend to dress up, so the few times I have, I'd be the only one on my entire office floor. I don't mind standing out, but it's just less fun with nobody else to compare costumes & talk Halloween with.

And I default to one of my historical costumes, which can be difficult to sit in an office chair in all day, what with a corset & petticoats! So spooky accessories are it for this week.

What I'm wearing:
Black cotton blouse with lace collar & cuffs, made for me by Donna | Burgundy skirt, NY & Company | White & black skull-print scarf, gift from my husband | Black tights, Calvin Klein | Black kitten-heel pumps, Aldo | Jet dangly earrings, random accessory store | Jet & gunmetal cocktail ring, Icing | Chanel "Vamp" lipstick

Do you or can you dress up for Halloween at work? Does your office have any kind of Halloween celebration or party?

  1. Last year the office I was temping at had a dress-up day. Since I already wear round black glasses, I wore an old Gryffindor cape and tie I'd made for my daughter a long time ago and went as Harry Potter. Lame. :D

  2. I'm so tempted to dress up for class/work. I was thinking of doing
the pop art makeup, with dots all over my face, and just wearing normal
(for me) clothes... Easier to work in than a Renaissance costume, although the makeup could end up taking forever.

  3. Ooo, makeup sounds cool! And definitely easier to manage during the day. Love that idea.

  4. I think that sounds cute! I love Harry Potter -- I once did a Hogwarts bad girl / dropout costume for Halloween, just for a silly twist :)

  5. I did a bit of a test tonight, and the dots actually don't take a lot of time. Just make sure to use a good primer and a foundation under, or the red might stain your face! I used a lipstick, and some of the dots didn't completely come off... Oops!

  6. I'd wear dresses like your period ones every day if could...;)

Workplaces here almost never throw Halloween parties, but at the last job, we decorated the office and all wore cheap, but fun witch hats, fake noses, kitten ears...it was cute. ^^

  7. You look very nice. The poofy sleeves on the blouse give the outfit a great touch of vintage fun.

I *always* dress up for Halloween. At my old job, there were only a few others that did, but the company I work for now has a party with a costume contest! (Though my co-workers say that every day is Halloween for me. And it really is.)

  9. Heh, I guess I wear the period clothes on so many weekends that wearing them to work feels tedious (at least squeezing them into office chairs & getting the hems caught in the rolling chair wheels is no fun ;-). Yay for office decorations tho!

  10. I love the way you used the scarf, like a tie. I dress as I always dress all the year around, mostly in black. Since I have spent a few week indoors and in bed I'm suitably pale ;) Halloween is not something that is common here. We have All saint's night and day next weekend when every grave have a lit candle in the churchyards, it's very beautiful.
